What’s Happening

What is WELCA? It’s an easy way to say Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Our organization at Ascension joins Lutheran women who gather in more than 4,500 locations in the US for service, study, advocacy, fellowship and more, mobilizing women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ.

Little Free Food Pantry and Little Free Library.

Located beside our parking lot, our little free library holds donated books from congregational and community members and is open to anyone. You can take and/or leave a book. No fees, no registration, and open 24 hours a day. Our little free pantry holds food items which anyone may take when they are in need. As with our free library, community members and congregational members alike donate and fill the pantry.

Habitat for Humanity Chattanooga works with low-income families who would not otherwise be able to afford a house. We partner with Habitat and hardworking families in need and help build affordable houses for themselves and their families.

The mission of the Samaritan Center is to meet the basic physical, spiritual, and social needs of people in our area, using the ministry of Jesus as our model. Ascension assists them by collecting pancake mix, peanut butter and other necessities to donate.

The Eternal Family Project is a loving home and family environment for at risk young women in Honduras that strives to break the cycle of poverty and abuse. These young women learn to thrive through education, proper health care, and spiritual guidance and support.

Welcome Home of Chattanooga provides shelter and loving care, partnering with area hospices who provide the professional medical care. They offer the opportunity for love, grace, and forgiveness at Welcome Home. All should die surrounded by love and compassionate care. We believe that everyone has purpose, and at the end of life, everyone should know that they are important and will be remembered.
