Neighbor Gardens

Our Neighbor Gardens are open to anyone in need of space to grow their own food. We’re dedicated to creating a welcoming space where the community can come together, access fresh produce, and connect meaningfully with nature. We proudly collaborate with Hope Community Fridge to supply fresh food for the outdoor fridge, and with the Food Forest of Chattanooga to help cultivate and sustain our open spaces.

Here are some specifics:
Gardens: Our Neighbor Gardens are approximately 3 feet by 4 feet and come with soil and compost already in the bed.
Watering: Once you sign up, we will give you the code to the storage areas so you can have access to water and a watering can. We are currently building a rainwater system for the gardens.
Soil/compost/mulch: We keep soil, garden compost, and garden mulch near the sheds. There is also a compost bin where you can dispose of weeds, old vegetables, etc. You are welcome to use any of it for your Neighbor Garden.
Education: We provide gardening classes throughout the year. You will be notified by email when they are scheduled. We have gardening, food forest professionals, and others who can teach you how to plant, organic ways to eliminate pests and other helpful information.
Community: We have a group garden workday on the first Sunday of the month starting at 2:00 PM. Friends and family are welcome (kid-friendly event).
General Guidelines/Expectations

- Please do not use harsh chemicals (weed killer, insecticide, etc.)
- You are responsible for planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting your garden bed.
- If you will be unable to continue maintaining your garden during the growing season, please let us know. Volunteers may be available to help.
