Emmaly Hughes currently serves Ascension as President of the Parish Council. Ms. Hughes has been an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church since it merged with her home congregation, Saint Matthew Lutheran Church in the 1990’s. Ms. Hughes is also an active member of Church Women United and frequently serves as an election worker for the Hamilton County Election Commission.

Jeff P. Crim has served as Pastor of Ascension Lutheran Church in 2011. Pastor Crim was born on the island of Guam, spent much of his childhood in Hawaii, but graduated from Ooltewah High School near Chattanooga. He has served congregations in Tennessee, Virginia, and Indiana. He also has an extensive background in hospice chaplaincy. In addition to his position at Ascension, Pastor Crim also serves as chaplain at Memorial Hospital and Memorial Home Health in Chattanooga,

A native of Newnan, Georgia, Julian Gordy served as pastor of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Franklin, TN; Christus Victor Lutheran Church, Ocean Springs, MS; and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Morristown, TN before his election as Bishop of the ELCA Southeastern Synod in June, 2007. He received the A.B. in religion from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia in 1972 and the M. Div. from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in 1985.

The Rev. Elizabeth A. Eaton was elected as the ELCA’s fourth presiding bishop at the 2013 ELCA Churchwide Assembly. Ordained June 4, 1981, Eaton served as assistant pastor of All Saints Lutheran Church in Worthington, Ohio; interim pastor of Good Hope Lutheran Church in Boardman, Ohio; and pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church in Ashtabula, Ohio. She was elected bishop of the ELCA Northeastern Ohio Synod in 2006 and re-elected in May 2013.
